Hi all! My name is Lydia, and I am the Summer 2023 intern for Indiana Phenology. During my time at INPH, I have had the opportunity to be part of several different programs that the organization has established. One of these is the Indiana Phenology Trail. For this program, INPH forms partnerships with existing nature areas. INPH then creates educational materials and provides training for regular visitors to make phenological observations of specific species in those nature area.
One of these sites is the Bloomington Community Orchard, a publicly-owned orchard maintained by volunteers, where the harvest is available to everyone. To promote our program, the application, and making phenological observations, I took a visit to the orchard. It was so much fun to explore!
Also, if you know a nature area that should become a trail site, tell them to apply! We want our trails program to expand across the state. Apply here today!
Check out my time at the Bloomington Community Orchard!
